Types of Dental Implants
A traditional dental implant is about 3.25 to 5 mm in diameter. The standard-size implant post typically provides the best stability and long-term success. While these traditional posts are very small, patients need to have a higher level of bone density to qualify. Mini dental implants are slightly smaller than traditional titanium implant posts. Just like standard implants, they can be used to replace one tooth or multiple teeth. Since mini dental implants are smaller, they require less jawbone tissue and offer a less invasive procedure. This makes them a good option for patients with health conditions that interfere with their ability to heal from surgery.
All-on-4 is an innovative treatment technique designed to restore a complete denture. The name refers to the number of implants (four) that are used per jaw. With the All-on-4 method, your dentist will insert the implants at an angle to maximize contact with the bone tissue. This allows patients with low jawbone density to qualify.
