Dental Exams

Even with excellent dental hygiene habits, stubborn bacteria can stick around and cause oral health problems.

Regular dental exams are an essential way to maintain good oral health and spot any problems as they arise.

Club 32 Advanced Technology Dentistry in Clifton, NJ, uses the most up-to-date tools for effective dental exams.

Why Are Dental Exams Important?

BENEFITS OF SEEING THE DENTIST REGULARLY

Early Intervention

If you see the dentist often, irregularities in your oral health can be spotted and treated sooner. Early intervention can save you money by treating the problem with more minimally invasive solutions, avoiding extensive treatments down the line.

Oral Maintenance

Even if you brush your teeth twice a day and floss, bacteria can linger in your mouth, causing tooth decay and other oral problems. Professional teeth cleaning can clean your teeth deeper, effectively ridding your mouth of these pesky bacteria.

Goal Setting

A dental care exam gives you and your dentist an overview of where your dental health is and how to get it to where it needs to be. If you want to improve your oral health or upgrade the look of your smile, we can discuss these goals at your exam.

Frequency of Exams

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU VISIT US?

Most of our dental patients come to visit us for an exam and cleaning twice a year. If you are prone to gum disease, tooth decay, or other oral health concerns, your dentist may recommend you come in more frequently.

DrSchulman’s office is modern and attractive. His staff is warm and helpful. Dr. Schulman’s expertise has helped me manage several serious dental issues: periodontal gum disease, cosmetic veneers, cavities. I leave his office knowing that he has once again helped me preserve my smile and my teeth.

1

X-Rays

If it's your first time at our Clifton, NJ, office or if it's been awhile since your last dental cleaning, we'll take X-rays of the structure of your smile. We use digital X-rays that are safer and deliver faster results than traditional X-rays.

3

Visual Exam

Once your teeth are clean, either Dr. Elli Schulman or Dr. Yaakov Schulman will take a look at your teeth to check for any oral health concerns.

5

Scheduling Appointments

If you need to join us in the office again for a cavity filling or other dental procedure, our receptionist can set up an appointment. If you do have to get a filling, our dentists will use tooth-colored materials so the filling blends in seamlessly with your tooth.

2

Dental Cleaning

Next, your dental hygienist will use cleaning tools to gently remove tartar and plaque buildup on your teeth and along your gumline. We will also floss and brush your teeth to fully polish them up.

4

Oral Cancer Screening

If you're at risk of oral cancer or the dentist spots symptoms of oral cancer, we'll use up-to-date technology to further examine your mouth. This technology detects early signs of oral cancer not seen by the naked eye.

We make the exam process comfortable and fun at every step of the way.

Rid Teeth of Gum Disease

WITH LASER DENTISTRY

Rather than using outdated techniques to clear gum disease from a patient's mouth, our Clifton, NJ, office uses laser dentistry. This advanced technology can also treat tooth decay and remove possible cancer lesions to be sent for a biopsy. Laser dentistry is often less painful and invasive than traditional dentistry techniques. Compared to the traditional oral drill, laser dentistry is a more patient-friendly procedure.

Nervous About Treatment?

WE OFFER SEDATION

The dentist's office isn't the most comfortable place for nervous patients to visit. Anxiety about the dentist can lead to you delay your dental exams or even skip them completely. To calm your anxieties and ensure you get the dental treatment you need to better your oral health, we offer nitrous oxide at our Clifton, NJ, dental office. This light sedation method has many benefits that dental patients can enjoy.

Wears Off Quickly

Nitrous oxide's effects wear off about 15 minutes after the mask has been removed from your face. Once the effects have fully worn off, you can safely drive yourself home, making it an accessible and convenient form of sedation.

Works For All Ages

If your little one is afraid of the dentist, nitrous oxide can safely help calm their fears. Nitrous oxide has no lingering side effects, and our dentists will carefully administer the correct amount to help your child feel relaxed during their exam.

Conscious Sedation

Nitrous oxide is a form of conscious sedation. You will remain awake, and can talk and respond to the dentist like usual. Your limbs may feel heavy, and you may feel light-headed, but unlike stronger forms of sedation you will be entirely alert.

Easily Administered

Other forms of sedation require an IV placed in the arm or a pill to swallow. Nitrous oxide is administered through a mask placed comfortably over the nose. The gas has even been termed "sweet air" because of its pleasant, sweet smell.
